Episode 18 – Niks and The Boogeyman in the Orange Bottle

In this week's episode:

Wind has destroyed all the things. Well, not all of them. Just both my cars and my fence and garage. I'm just pretending that I'm not completely overwhelmed right now, but enough about me.

In news and reviews this week, we have two articles from the NAMI.org blog by Laura Greenstein. The first is about something I think many of us can relate to, How do I know if My Therapist is Effective?

The second article touches on self-harm and some ways to cope without hurting yourself, called "Understanding Self-Harm".

My interview this week is with previous podcast guest Erick Myrthil. His book "Boogeyman in the Orange Bottle, a love story as told by TEAMS" officially drops April 28, 2018. As always, you can reach him at 585-456-6109.

I have a listener story for you today, from Niks. I want to thank her again for her courage in sharing her story today.

Thanks for listening!

Episode 11 – Elle, Redux

In this week’s episode:

I’ve been a bit under the weather this week, having taken 2.5 days off of work.  Luckily, I feel a bit better just in time to get together an episode!

In news and reviews this week, I came across an article that just made my blood boil.  It’s a Guardian article that talks about a lawsuit filed by a US former prisoner.  He alleges that severe neglect and abuse, in addition to not being provided adequate mental care, caused him to suffer sever delusions culminating in his gouging out his own eyes. (sorry).

In this week’s interview, I welcome back friend of the show, Elle.  She wanted to share some of her struggles with benzodiazapines and the stigma she has faced.

Episode Ten: Erick Myrthil

In this week’s episode:

I was swinging pretty wide this week – from being happy and dancing to barely able to drag myself to the shower in the morning.  Still, I feel more stable than I have in a long time.

In news and reviews this week, I look at an article about new research that shows childhood trauma is inheritable by future generations.  And suddenly my life makes a lot more sense.

It appears that health insurers are still not putting mental health on par with physical health when it comes to paying out claims.  Who’s surprised?  No One?  That’s what I thought.

My guest this week is Erick Myrthil, a recovering benzodiazapine user and addiction advocate.  Erick puts his phone number where his mouth is, and he makes himself available for phone calls with anyone who is struggling.  He is also the author of The Boogeyman In The Orange Bottle, due out soon.  I’ll make a mention when it is available. Check out his youtube channel for lots more.

Thanks for downloading and as always, please rate, review and subscribe!  I really cannot stress enough how much that helps.
